How to mark all discussion posts and replies as read?

To track discussions as an instructor I want to be follow up new questions and replies for a course. Sometimes I know a co-instructor has already handled questions, sometimes i have already seen questions through mail notificiations. Currently I have to go into each post for which I already knwto mark it as read. I can't find a way to do this from the topic list screen. I can't find a mark all read control???

This is also problematic for the dashboard: I can not use it as an indicator of discussions I have to react to, it always shows a number of old posts as "unread".

Maybe I'm missing something, but with this option I still need to go in every discussion topic. And I need to mark all replies read by hand.

I'd like to be able to mark a discussion topic as read, which would mark all replies in it as read, from the discussions window. Then I would like to be able to select all and mark all as read.

Or just have a button that marks all replies in all discussions as read.

Hi Jan - I think that many instructors would like this feature. While I don't believe it's possible in Canvas right now, it sounds like it could be a great feature idea. If you'd like help creating a new feature idea, let the Community know.

How can this be marked this as "solved"? This is not a solution; it's not even a workaround. When I clicked on "Jump to solution" I expected to see, well, a solution.

Once again a feature that makes complete sense, to the extent that I assumed it was really just a question of searching for it, does not exist in Canvas.

Whatever kool-aid they give you at Instructure, we users know that the "feature requests" basically don't get a look in.

My disappointment continues.

For courses with multiple instructors, the inability to "silence" a particular discussion thread (mark as read, or not follow it in the first place) makes the dashboard badge of unread discussion posts meaningless.
