Is there an option to make comments written about a student's quiz (a writing exam in the Quiz function) invisible to the student = use that feature as a way to communicate confidentially with fellow graders?

The box "Let students see their quiz responses" is NOT checked, but I guess that only refers to their input)

If you don't check the box "let stuents see their response", they won't be shown the lecturers comments on the questions. So this should be working for your situation.
