[ARCHIVED] Lock tabs or have quizzes "pop out"

Is there a way to lock students into a quiz until they submit? As a teacher I have multiple students open separate tabs and begin to look for answers or begin typing in the search engine to receive answer prompts. If there was a way to lock them in a specific tab, or make a quiz "pop out", if they were to click outside of the quiz it would automatically submit and close.

There are products such as the Respondus LockDown Browser which integrates with Canvas that prevents you from accessing other sites/content while taking a Canvas quiz.  Of course, if a student was sneaky enough and had a smartphone with him/her, that might complicate things a bit.  There is even a Respondus Monitor component that has some other technology to try and prevent cheating.  Those are the main two that come to mind, and you'd want to have a conversation with folks at your school (such as your school's local Canvas administrator or someone from your school's Online Learning/eLearning department) to see if purchasing products like this would be possible.

So what you're saying is Canvas doesn't plan on providing that service for the MANY institutions that use its service, but have read in the past, its what its users would like? 3rd Party is Canvas' solution?

I don't really have much for insights on what Instructure plans to implement in Canvas (other than taking a look at this link: Roadmap - Canvas Community).  Here are some other resources for you that might be of help:
