Outcomes as an Average?

Hi Everyone,
We are looking to have a flat average in the Outcomes in the Learning Mastery of one of our classes. Essentially this would give us two gradebooks in a course. The calculation methods listed in the outcomes options is not suited to what we are looking for. Our Outcomes must be an average, E.G. Student A gets a 1/2 and a 2/2 then the student would receive a 1.5. The calculation methods listed are all weighted to some way where we are looking for a flat average.
Does anyone know if this is possible using the outcomes or would a separate class, using their gradebook be the only about this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
