Syllabus on course page help

I have a chormebook laptop and am at the University of Texas at Arlington in the masters of social work program. I just started and am having trouble downloading the attachment on the course page that an instructor has posted under the syllabus icon. It shows a number and when trying to download, my chromebook says it doesn't have the app to open this attachment. What do I do? I emailed the professor and he said contact you or chromebook people. I gave all the permissions needed for Canvas on my computer and for the classes. Im not sure what else to do. I have two classes that this is happening in and the third class the syllabus comes up fine and I am able to see everything.
Please help asap!!
