can I restore my settings after importing a template for my course? I have too many courses overlapping and too many buttons images etc that are not relevant. How do I reset and go back to the beginning?

I think this all depends on how far you have got with working in your course.
You can reset your course, but that means taking it completely back to nothing except having the students still in it. How do I reset course content? | Canvas Instructor Guide | Canvas Guides (en)
Or you could try undelete. That depends how far you have moved on.
You could also try How do I view the history of a page in a course? | Canvas Instructor Guide | Canvas Guides (en) This is super handy for individual pages.
Or you could delete individual pages etc. Time consuming depending on how much there is.
I've ended up in a similar pickle and had to use a mixture of the above at times.
