When creating a badge, you can use Badge Studio to design an image or upload an image from your device. This document is designed as a quick reference for badge image specification recommendations.
PNG and SVG files can be used to upload a badge to Badge Studio.
Whether PNG or SVG, images should be square (equal width and height).
For PNG, we recommend 400 by 400 px. Canvas Badges attempts to resize your image to 400x400 if you upload a PNG larger in either dimension. For SVG, ensure the image has a square view box.
Canvas Badges typically displays images on a white background; however, it's important to note that this isn't a universal rule. While this may appear acceptable within the Canvas Badges platform, it might not be visually appealing when viewed on recipients' job profiles or other locations. To maintain a professional appearance across various contexts, it is recommended to verify and adjust the background of your image accordingly.
Badges may be presented in a compact size, so it is recommended to preview your image at approximately 90x90 device pixels to guarantee that its elements remain sufficiently clear. This dimension represents one of the smallest sizes at which applications typically embed badge images on the web. Ensuring clarity at this scale contributes to optimal visibility and effectiveness of the badge in various online contexts.
Note: You can only embed guides in Canvas courses. Embedding on other sites is not supported.
