Canvas Teacher Release Notes (iOS 1.12)

In Canvas Teacher 1.12, the option to manage course favorites has been moved to the All Courses page, and Help menu items include a short description. The Quizzes Index page displays quizzes created with the New Quizzes tool. For delayed announcements, a time can be selected in addition to the date, and the course syllabus can be edited from the app. When a message is composed in the Inbox, the app will default to the previously selected course in the course list. The To Do List has received small design updates

Canvas iOS app version updates are distributed in a phased rollout, which distributes the update to all users enrolled in automatic updates over time. The features in these notes may not immediately be available, but iOS users can manually update the app at any time in the iTunes Store. The Canvas Teacher iOS App requires iOS 12.0 or later.

Time Delay

When creating a delayed announcement, teachers can select the time of the announcement in addition to the date.

Courses

Course Syllabus

The syllabus can be viewed and edited in the app. This change allows instructors to be able to edit the syllabus from their devices.

Dashboard

Course Favorites

The option to manage course favorites has been moved to the All Courses page. This change aligns favoriting behavior with the Canvas web. Teachers can favorite or unfavorite a course by tapping the star icon next to a course.

Help Menu

Menu Descriptions

Help menu items include a short description. This change helps teachers identify the purpose of each Help link in the app. 

Inbox

Course Selection 

When a teacher is composing a new message, the app will default to the previously selected course in the course list. This change helps teachers who are sending messages to more than one student in the same course.

Quizzes

New Quizzes

The Quizzes Index page displays quizzes created with the New Quizzes tool. This change helps teachers distinguish between New Quizzes and Classic Quizzes. New Quizzes are displayed as solid icons.

To Do List

To Do List Updates

The To Do List has received small design updates. No functionality has been affected.
