Selecting a course homepage

In "normal Canvas" you go to the homepage for you course and click the Choose Home Page button to select that opening page. My understanding with the new UI is that the home tab can be set up the same way: it could open to a front page, to modules, recent activity, etc. How do you change that selection now? I have a Canvas for Elementary test course setup as with a front page, when I navigate to to Home from the manage panel the course takes me out of 'normal Canvas' and back to that student view screen with the tabs but none of the management buttons that are on the home screen of "normal canvas". Will those be added back after the updates to the teacher 'management' workflow are implemented?

The course home page is designed to be a page; if you don't have a home page set, the home page includes a button that will take you to pages so you can set a page.
