Students starring courses

I recall hearing or seeing somewhere that students would not be able to change the courses that were shown on their dashboard. We were happy to be able to prevent students from starring some subjects and then not being able to find all the other subjects. 

 (Acting as a student) When I go into the All Subjects page and nothing is starred, all courses show on my dashboard, along with my assigned homeroom. But if I star a subject, now only that subject appears in my cards and I lose the homeroom at the top of my dashboard. 

Any ideas on if this is something that is being worked on, or will it be like this moving forward?

Hi, @MeganE 

I believe our product team has announced that starred courses will not apply in Canvas for Elementary, just to prevent these types of issues.

@erinhmcmillan do you know if that will apply to just students in C4E or to teachers as well? Our teachers sometimes have enrollments in old PD courses or other district courses that they don't want cluttering up their dashboard but still want access to.

Hi, @audra_agnelly! I'm not sure if you've had a chance to watch our LONG update from last Friday, but it sounds like we were thinking about the same use cases for teachers and the need to be able to favorite courses. This will be limited to students. Teachers will still have the ability to favorite courses as needed. It is important to remind them that if they favorite any courses, they will want to also favorite their homeroom so that they see the link and announcements on their dashboard.
