Get the most recent version of a quiz question

We have an LTI tool that delivers quiz questions on a specified schedule.  What we have found is the following:

1. Create a quiz submission for a user
2. Deliver 1 question (Question 1)
3. Teacher changes a question, Question 2, in the quiz (not sure if it's important at this point, but the question is a Matching type question
4. When we get the Quiz Submission Questions, Question 2 will be the original question (i.e. it's state before the teacher changed it)

Is there a way to get the most recent version of the question from the Quiz Submission Questions endpoint? I do know that we can get the question from the Quiz Questions endpoint, but there are some important, user specific details, that come through via the Submissions endpoint that can't be lost.
