A small team of students at my school is building an app and they envision it working with Canvas. Is there a Developers Program they can join that would provide access to a development instance of Canvas they can use to hone their application and prepare it for integration with real instances of Canvas?
Hello @glparker
That sounds great that you have students working on building an app to use with Canvas. That seems like a great learning experience. Is the plan for it to be an LTI?
There is an open-source version of Canvas, that if someone at your school could host, may work for them to perform testing: https://github.com/instructure/canvas-lms
Hi @JamesSekcienski I have the same question but specifically for the cloud version of Canvas. Is the self-hosted (open source) version the same as the cloud version of Canvas, in terms of Oauth2 Flow authentication? In the Canvas API documentation it references the cloud and open source versions separately, so I'm wondering if building my app while testing with the open source version might mean some discrepancies when eventually integrating with the cloud version in production environments.
Thanks!
