Uploaded CSS/JS is trying to be loaded as https on VirtualBox

Does anyone know how to configure a local VirtualBox Canvas LMS instance (Bitnami) to NOT use HTTPS for uploaded Javascript and CSS?

I uploaded a CSS file and it seems to go to my VirtualBox instance just fine, but when Canvas displays a page it is supposed to insert that CSS but it fails with an error NET::err_cert_invalid and I can see the URL to the CSS file is HTTPS (not just HTTP). When I take that same URL with http in the browser it loads my CSS file fine.

Seems like this is a bug in Canvas. It should use the current domain HTTP scheme rather than assuming (or hard-coding) HTTPS. Of course, in production it will always be HTTPS, but still....it should never assume. I had to configure a local certificate in my key chain to be always trusted (on my MacBook Pro running Canvas LMS in a virtual instance under Virtual Box (Bitnami image).
