Make "Show Last Edit Date on Announcements" a feature in settings that can be turned off

I need to be able to schedule some announcements - but make them read as if they were just created. This helps with the sense of immediacy in the course and increases student engagement. 

When the Last Edit Date is shown under my name and role - it is revealing that I might have actually written the post the day before or the week before. It shows too much of how the sausage is made and can decrease engagement. 

I do not see how this information is relevant in an Announcement. The only one creating Announcements in my course is me. 

Either remove this information, or make it something we can turn off at the course level.

I am adding to this complaint in my frustration: 

Here is the logic that I am getting: "Because some instructors make mistakes in their announcements such that they have to regularly edit them afterwards, 1) students now have to track the date/time edit version to know if they read the latest one 2) other instructors now have to manage the date/time stamp to not make it public that they are re-using carefully crafted material." That logic makes no sense to me.
