Reply Via Email in New Discussions

So in testing the New Discussions to see if we are ready to roll it out to our institution, I discovered that replying to the e-mail notification of a forum post does not post to the forum as it currently does in the classic discussions. Are there any plans to make this available in New Discussions? The majority of our professors reply to student posts directly from the e-mail notification as this is intuitive and a time-saver.

So I ended up testing this again, and apparently this is working now where the recipient CAN reply via email to a new discussion post.   I'm not sure how I missed this announcement or report. If somebody happens to know when/where this update was made, can you kindly link me here so I can read it?
