Have you created a Free for Teacher account that you are no longer in need of, and would like to request an account deletion, but need some help going through the deletion process? Look no further! This blog will show you the steps you need to follow to request an account deletion for FFT.
Deleting Free for Teacher Canvas Accounts
If you decide that you are no longer in need of your Canvas account under the canvas.instrucuture.com or k12.instructure.com Canvas, you can request to delete your account. It is strongly recommended that you ensure you don't need access to any of your data or information that exists on your Canvas account before requesting an account deletion, as once your account is deleted, the process to recover it isn't possible.
The process for deleting your account may vary depending on your account type that you initially signed up.
If you are a Teacher, please sign in to your Canvas account. Upon singing in, locate the 'Help' button via the Canvas global navigation menu (the left side-bar). Locate the 'Report a Problem' link, click on it, and fill out the form, requesting an account deletion.
Report a Problem link on Global Navigation
If you are a Student, and do NOT have access to the Report a Problem link, there are a couple of things you can do to request an account deletion.
1) If you are on canvas.instructure.com, you can create a new course by clicking the 'Start a new Course' button, name it something random, create the course. Then, after refreshing your page, you should be able to locate the Report a Problem link and follow the teacher process above.
Start a new course button on Dashboard
2) However, if you do not have access to the 'Start a New Course' button on your Dashboard, as a last resort, please open the Free for Teacher Canvas Users group on the Canvas Community, and create a new discussion post, and request an account deletion for your student account. Creating a new post instead of responding to existing threads will make your request more noticeable, and will allow your request to get forwarded much quicker.
Thank you for reading, and I hope this helps you out!
