Why You Should Join Us Live

Pre-Conference workshops offer participants a deep dive into a range of topics presented by learning, strategy, and design experts at Instructure. All workshops are interactive and participants will leave with strategies and tools they can use right away. From first-timers to advanced users, there’s something for everyone! This year, we’re presenting Pre-Conference sessions all day on Tuesday, July 22. The Opening Keynote and Reception are Tuesday evening, so there's plenty of time to join us for some extra learning prior to the conference's official start! Check out the blog Extend Your Learning at InstructureCon 2025 for more info on everything that's being offered during the Pre-Conference this year.

The Certified Programs at Instructure are normally asynchronous courses that run for six weeks. The live opportunity is the same great content, presented by our awesome facilitators, only in person! You will have the added benefit of engaging with other participants, while getting a jump start on a new program or completing an elective for recertification.

What We're Offering Live During Pre-Con This year

During Pre-Con this year, Certified Programs is offering the following opportunities:

Canvas Certified Educator CORE 1 & 2

Canvas Certified Educator Recertification - Creating & Using High Quality Assessments

Canvas Certified Technical Admin Recertification - Leading with Data for Technical Admins

Instructure Credentials Innovator CORE 1 & 2

Canvas Certified Educator CORE 1 & 2

Join us for this double session where you will complete the first two courses of our Canvas Certified Educator program.  After successfully completing this live session, participants can continue their journey to receive the full CCE certification by taking CORE 3, CORE 4, and an elective online. You can learn more about CCE here.

During the first part, we’ll cover CORE 1: Foundational Frameworks. In this course, participants will explore the impact of technology on student learning and how Canvas can help educators improve student achievement, motivation, and engagement.  As faculty begin to look at infusing their instruction with technology, the use of an instructional framework can help provide a compelling why and a research-based foundation. Technology models (such as SAMR, TPACK, TIM and Bloom’s Taxonomy) can be used to examine how digital tools can enhance teaching and learning and can help guide educators through a logical progression of meaningful technology use.

In the second part, we’ll cover CORE 2: Engagement Strategies. If our students aren't engaged, nothing else really matters. However, when engagement comes up in conversations, it is often hard to articulate exactly what we mean. In most cases, we know it when we see it. We feel it! It feels fantastic. But how do we describe it when we are in a group of educators or talking to our students? How do we measure it? How do we plan and design for it so that learners remain at the center of the learning? In this course, participants will examine the ways that Canvas can help enrich teaching practices. What teachers do in the classroom impacts the long-term academic success of students. By leveraging strategies that enhance engagement, motivate learners, and create a progression toward learning goals, educators can maximize their impact on student achievement.

Canvas Certified Educator Recertification - Creating & Using High Quality Assessments

In this course, assessments will be examined as a powerful tool for measuring and guiding the learning process. Participants will carefully consider and analyze the assessments they have created against a five-step process and will explore the various ways Canvas supports standards-based assessments. Participants will leave with a better understanding of high-quality standards-based assessments in Canvas that are rigorous, bias-free, and clearly written.

This is intended for those who are renewing their CCE Recertification. However,  other interested participants can take this course and have it count as an elective course in the CCE program. You can learn more about CCE here.

Canvas Certified Technical Admin Recertification - Leading with Data for Technical Admins

Ready to take your Canvas leadership skills to the next level with data-informed leadership? You’re in the right place! Get ready to dive into exciting topics like aligning vision and goals, fostering a culture of data-informed learning, data governance, and leveraging data for continuous improvement. By the end of this course, not only will you be equipped with practical tools and resources, but you'll also demonstrate your understanding by adding data-informed goals to your Canvas Admin plan. Let’s embark on a journey to become data-savvy leaders in the world of education!

This is intended for those who are renewing their CCTA Recertification. However,  other interested participants can take this course and have it count as an elective course in the CCTA program. You can learn more about CCTA here.

Instructure Credentials Innovator - CORE 1 & 2

Join us for this double session where you will complete the first two courses of our Instructure Credentials Innovator program. After successfully completing this live session, participants can complete their journey to receive the full ICI certification by taking an elective online. You can learn more about ICI here.

During the first part, we’ll cover CORE 1: Understanding the Value of Credentials. Participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of credentialing, exploring its importance and benefits. Then we will dive into the world of badging, and learn more about how to create a badge hierarchy. Finally, you will define a clear vision for your credentialing program, and explore some different use cases of credentials in K12, higher education, and corporate environments.

In the second part, we’ll cover CORE 2: Standardizing & Aligning Credentials. In this course, you will expand your knowledge of digital credentialing, beginning with a discussion of how skills alignment can strengthen your badging offerings and align with hiring practices. You will learn more about the use of assessments and the linking of standards to skills-based badges, and you will explore the use of intentional design practices to communicate badge taxonomy and value.

Participants do not need to have Canvas Credentials to complete this certification.

Other Certified Programs Activities During InstructureCon

Certified Programs graduates as well as current participants will be recognized during InstructureCon in a number of ways! Last year, Certified Programs grads and participants received an exclusive InstructureCon pin to identify which program (or programs!) in which they were participants. They also received a special piece of swag and admission into a VIP lounge for Certified Programs participants! This year, we have lots of similar experiences planned for Certified Programs grads and participants, and we don’t want to spoil the surprises yet. However, we will say you won’t want to miss connecting with the Certified Programs team in Spokane!
