Discussion Insights is an AI powered tool for educators to quickly assess student replies in Discussions, evaluating the relevancy and quality of the replies.
How do I enable Discussion Insights?
- Open your Canvas instance in beta or production (depending which environment your institution is agreed to do the testing)
- Courses → Settings → Feature Options

Can students see the evaluations?
No, students can’t access Discussion Insights nor see the evaluation of their own replies.

The relevancy score and evaluation notes are provided by the AI and not changeable. The purpose of evaluation is to only support the teachers in their grading process. Therefore the information provided by Insights cannot be overridden.

Currently, the results are only available within the Discussion Insights interface.

No, you still need to use Speedgrader to grade Discussion replies.

No, Discussion Insights only provides evaluation
Does Discussion Insights support Rubrics?
We see a low usage for Rubrics within Discussions so it does not take Rubrics into account while evaluating the student replies.
