Instructors can now have a view‑only role in Canvas courses, giving them access to credential‑related information like course objectives, subscribed pathways, and learner progress without the ability to change badges, subscriptions, or settings.

What's new?

Admins can enable a view‑only role in deployment preferences, giving instructors read‑only access to course badges, pathway subscriptions, learner progress, and leaderboards, with all editing disabled.

Why is it valuable?

Removes the choice between granting full permissions or none at all. Reduces the risk of accidental changes while still giving instructors the visibility they need to monitor progress and support credentialing.
