[ARCHIVED] Is there a way to award a badge to just one student or a small group?

I am currently using Badgr to award badges to my students.  Is there a way to award a badge to just one student or a small group?  I have three students that won the "Civil War Historian" badge and I would like to award them, but all the students are receiving the badge.  I set up a separate module for the award, made an assignment a requirement of the module and only shared the assignment with those three students but everyone is receiving the award.  Is this even possible?

I had a look through the Badgr Support wiki and I don't think there is. Here is a possible work around.

1. Create a new Module with add in an assignment

2. Set Points to 1 point (or if you are not bothered about the scores in your gradebook then something else)

3. Display Grade as Complete/Incomplete only because there is not really a grade for the badge

4. Choose On paper as the submission type

5. Now set a Requirement for the Module

6. Choose the Students must complete one of these requirements options and select your Assignment

7. Next set the requirement to Score at least 1 point out of 1 (ie 100%)

When all students click on Badgr they will see the History Badge in the Learning Path but it will be greyed out.

Now go to the Assignment (and Speedgrader) and mark the students who have earned the badges with a Points score  eg 1/1 and Grade Complete

Only the students who get 1/1 and complete will have completed the Module requirements and they will see the History Badge in their Learning Path. For all other students it will be greyed out (but presumably they would have had a chance to earn it?)

Hope that is not too off-putting/complicated. Am sure others have a more elegant solution. Do feel free to get back to me and I can add some printscreens.

Thank you!  I tried it out today and so far, it seems to work.  This will open up new possibilities for badges.

I'm glad. Am sure there are better refinements but pleased that it at least does the task.
