This behavior has been resolved and deployed to the production environment as of 7/30/25.
When a template is enabled for an account, using the Copy this Course feature imports the active template to the new course. This can lead to duplicates of the template material if the course is copied more than once.
- Copy course should not trigger import of the template as described in release notes for templates.
- Note: Course copies do not use the course template; they retain a copy of the selected course.
No workaround exists at this time.
Prerequisite: Have a sub-account with an active template.

Create a course in the sub-account with template applied.

Copy the course using the Copy course feature.

Note that the new course imports the template before the course content which leads to duplicates of the template material.
