New Quiz formula questions using scientific notation doesn't show the result with a comma when using a language pack that should

Canvas

This behavior has been resolved and deployed to the production environment as of 10/5/23.

Description

When using a formula question in New Quizzes and the answer is set to use scientific notation as the response, for languages that use a comma instead of a period, the result is still using a period when it should be a comma.

Expected Behavior

Languages that use a comma should have the result use a comma as well.

Workaround

No workaround exists at this time.

Steps to Reproduce

  • Prerequisite: Course with New Quizzes and language set to one that uses a comma.
  1. Create a New Quiz with a question type as a formula.
  2. Select to generate the results using scientific notation and going out at least one decimal places.
  3. After generating the result, notice that the scientific notation answer shows with a period instead of a comma.
