[OPEN] Group discussion topics can be marked as anonymous after students reply
Engineers are currently investigating the issue.
Description
When a group discussion topic has replies in the group context, you are able to still change the anonymous settings when editing the main discussion topic.
- This causes the group context to become unavailable automatically and future replies will now route to the root discussion and properly lock out the anonymous settings from being toggled.
Expected Behavior
The check that decides if the anonymous settings can be enabled should be aware of the group discussion topics to check if replies have been made to them and disallow changing the anonymous setting if there are.
Workaround
No workaround exists at this time.
Steps to Reproduce
Prerequisite: have a course with at least 2 students enrolled, and a group set with at least 2 groups with a student in each group
-
Create a group discussion topic assigned to the group set
-
Act as a student and make a reply to the group discussion
-
As yourself edit the group discussion and see the anonymous setting is still available to be changed
-
You can set it as partial or full, upon saving the group context reply is no longer accessible
