[OPEN] Observer Accounts are not receiving Course Content notifications

Engineers are currently investigating the issue.

Description

When a page is updated and the Notify users that this content has change checkbox is selected, observer accounts are not receiving course content notifications, even though their notification settings are set to Notify Immediately.

Expected Behavior

When the Notify users that this content has changed checkbox is selected and the Course Content notification setting is set to Notify Immediately in the observer's notification settings, they should be receiving a notification.

Workaround

No workaround exists at this time.

Steps to Reproduce

Prerequisites:

  • A course where an Observer is linked to a student in a course

  • An Observer account that has their Course Content Notifications set to Notify Immediately

  1. Create and publish a page within a course.

  2. Return to the page, and make an update to the page body.

    1. Making sure to check the box about notifying people of changes when saving.

  3. Wait about 15 minutes to allow any delays to process, and check the observer’s messages page.

  4. See how the observer user does not get a new notification message that the page content has been updated.
