Description

If you have the FF of ‘Performance and Usability upgrades for Speedgrader' turned on in a course and the course has Student Groups setup in addition to having the course setting of 'Launch SpeedGrader Filtered by Student Group’ turned on, when you try filtering from either the Assignment or the Gradebook to get into the Speedgrader, you are not presented with the group that you have selected.

You instead receive an error of “The group "x" was selected because the student you requested is not in the previously selected group. You can change the selected group in the Gradebook.”

Expected Behavior

If you filter for a specific Group, you should be presented with that Student Groups members once you reach the Speedgrader.

Workaround

Turn off the FF of ‘Performance and Usability upgrades for Speedgrader' and you will be directed to the correct Student Group in the Speedgrader.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. In a course turn on the FF of ‘Performance and Usability upgrades for Speedgrader'.

  2. In the course Settings, enable the setting of 'Launch SpeedGrader Filtered by Student Group’.

  3. Create a few student Groups and place students within them.

  4. Create an Online Assignment that is assigned to everyone.

  5. Go to the Assignment and choose the filter to launch by group and select the 2nd or 3rd group, notice that once SG loads, it will default to the incorrect student group and state that the student that was selected did not exist in the group previously selected.

  6. Go to the Gradebook, choose to filter by student group and select the 2nd or 3rd group, then click the 3 dots next to the Assignment title to launch Speedgrader, notice you get the same behavior and the Group you selected is not what loads.
