This behavior has been resolved and deployed to the production environment as of 4/9/25.
When a file is attached to a discussion or announcement if you then you replace the file with a new version the file preview on the discussion/announcement is not updated.
Downloading the file works, but clicking the link to the preview will fail.
Replacing a file shouldn’t cause the previews to break
No workaround exists at this time.
Upload a file
Link the file in a discussion or attachment
Reupload the file and choose the ‘replace’ option
Navigate back to the discussion or announcement and try to preview the file
Notice it will fail
Open the file in a new tab and notice it loads
