Students can reply to Notifications and post to closed Announcements/Discussions

This behavior has been resolved and deployed to the production environment as of 3/1/22.

 

Description

 

Replying to a New Announcement email will post a reply to the Announcement even if its closed for comments

 

Expected Behavior

 

They do not expect to see any posts made to an Announcement if it's been setup to not allow any comments.

 

Workaround


No workaround exists at this time.

Steps to Reproduce

 

  1. Add a student to the course with an email account that you have access to

  2. Make sure this users notifications are set to ASAP for new Announcements

  3. Create an Announcement that does NOT have the option of 'Allow users to comment' checked

  4. Notice the user receives an email regarding the new course content, if they click 'Reply' from the Notification you will then see they have a reply within the Announcement
