The Instructure Community will enter a read-only state on November 22, 2025 as we prepare to migrate to our new Community platform in early December. Read our blog post for more info about this change.

This behavior has been resolved and deployed to the production environment as of 3/26/25
When a course contains a page with between 400 and 10,000 nested html tags, the course can be exported successfully, but attempting to import the export package or copy the course into another course the import fails with aDocument tree depth limit exceeded error
Instead courses which can be exported successfully should import or copy successfully as well.
No workaround exists at this time.
Prerequisites: Two courses, one containing a page with 401 nested html tags.
Export the course with the page.
Attempt to import the export package in the other course and note that the import fails and an error report with a Document tree depth limit exceeded error is produced.
Attempt to do a course copy from the course with the page into the other course and note that the copy fails with an error report with the same error as above.
