Teachers/TAs are getting notified each time a delayed announcement is edited

Canvas

This behavior has been resolved and deployed to the production environment as of 8/8/24.

Description

Both Teachers and TAs are getting notified each time a delayed announcement (with an available from date) is edited.

Expected Behavior

Instead, If a Teacher/TA edited an announcement, other Teachers/TAs shouldn’t be automatically notified about it, or to have a similar pop-up message to choose whether or not to notify users upon saving, the same way published/un-delayed announcements does.

Workaround

No workaround exists at this time.

Steps to Reproduce

Prerequisite: A course with at least one Teacher and one TA enrolled

  1. After creating a delayed announcement with an available from date in the future as the Teacher/TA, navigate to the edit page and edit the announcement text.

  2. When clicking on the save button, notice that there is no pop-up message with the option to either send a notification or save without sending (like with announcements that are not delayed/published)

  3. After saving, navigate to the notification messages page for the teacher and the TA and notice both of them getting notified.
