a11y Reply button in Discussion Redesign split screen view has less than 3:1 contrast

Canvas

This behavior has been marked as resolved as it will not be fixed.

Description

When viewing discussions using Discussion Redesign in the split screen, the button to reply to a thread or indicating how many threaded replies there are has a color contrast of less than 3:1. Additionally, we are not meeting 4.5:1 contrast ratio via the High Contrast UI feature option.

Expected Behavior

The default color ratio should be 3:1 or higher, and the ratio should be at least 4.5:1 when HCUI is enabled.

Workaround

No workaround exists at this time.

Steps to Reproduce

Prerequisites: Course with Discussion Redesign feature enabled

  1. Create a discussion. Make a reply, and a threaded reply.

  2. Check the option to view the split screen.

  3. Click Reply on the post, or click the 1 Reply button. In either, notice the light button in the split screen view.
