The Instructure Learning Services Team is excited to share news pertaining to the Getting Started with Mastery Connect course housed in Mastery Connect instances’ Help Menus.
What is Changing?
On September 8, 2023, the content in the Getting Started with Mastery Connect course will be replaced with an updated version. This new version includes the latest updates and functionality released in July, 2023. In additional to updated training content to match the updates user interface changes in the Mastery Connect product, the course experience also includes the following changes:
- Content Pages will now be a combination of text based training, video training and pages with interactives as well as voluntary quizzes for competency checks.
- Awarding of Canvas Credentials Badges for those who complete the competency checks with 80% or higher accuracy.
- The course will continue to contain teacher and admin related content content, however the modules relating to admin content are clearly differentiated. Participants can earn the badge for admin or for teacher content or both.
How will you be affected?
The delivery model for ‘Getting Started with Mastery Connect’ has not changed and will still be accessed via the link in your Mastery Connect instance with the same url as before. As of September 8th, the content will be updated and due to the extensive nature of the changes in the training materials, if you have previously completed the course or are still ‘In Progress’ will be reset.
If you previously completed the course:
Your progress will not be saved but if you are comfortable with the changes and product and do not wish to retake the course, that is up to you and your institution’s requirements. The course will be structured so that you can pass the competency checks and receive a badge credential without consuming the course content.
If you started, but did not yet complete the course:
The best recommendation is to start the course from the beginning to benefit from the updates. If that is not ideal for you, you are free to pick up at the start of the module where you left off and should therefore note which module you are working on prior to Sep 8, 2023, changes. After the updates are complete, resume the module where you had previously left off.
