As the new school year begins, here are a few quick setup tasks to help your district run smoothly in Mastery Connect. At the end of this post, there is a link to a resource document that will show you how to complete each of these tasks.

1. Verify School Assignments: To ensure data is reported correctly, make sure you are assigned to the correct schools before you create trackers. This organizes and filters all Mastery Connect data and reports properly by your school.

2. Making Correct Selections when Creating Trackers: After confirming that your account is assigned to the correct school, you will then want to create trackers. Make sure to create new trackers from Canvas, if your district uses Canvas, and remove any assignments from copied courses.

3. Choose Your Rostering Method: To ensure that your list of students remains accurate in Mastery Connect, it is important to choose the appropriate rostering method based on your SIS and whether or not your district uses Canvas.

4. Know whether to use Curriculum Maps or to Create a Tracker from a Standard Set: This decision should be based on which approach your district has chosen.

5. What if You are Missing Sections or Students? If you find that there are students or sections missing from your rosters in Mastery Connect, there are some troubleshooting steps you can follow in the document linked at the end of this post.

6. What to do if you run into a problem? Remember to first check the help documentation, then refer to your district’s processes and then get help from your district’s technical contact accessible from the “?” icon in the top, right-hand corner of Mastery Connect. If none of those help, contact Mastery Connect support.
