How do I use the Assessments tab of a tracker?

In Mastery Connect, the Assessments tab of a tracker opens the Tracker Assessment list, which displays the assessments associated with the tracker. You can view assessments grouped by standard or in a list. You can use the links and buttons to view and manage assessments.

Open Tracker

In the Global Navigation menu, click the Trackers link [1]. In the Trackers page, click the tracker name link [2].

In the Tracker View page, click the Assessments tab.

View Assessments

To view assessments and standards, click the View By drop-down menu [1].

To view assessments grouped by standard, select the Group by Standards option [2].

To view assessments in a list, select the List View option [3].

If your tracker contains units, you can view assessments grouped by standards in units. Select the Group by Unit option [4].

View by Standards

To view assessments by standard, click the View By drop-down menu, and select the Group by Standards option [1].

Drafted assessments are listed first in the Drafts group [2]. All other assessments are contained within each standard covered by the items in the assessment [3].

Each standard displays the number of formative and benchmark assessments in the tracker that relate to the standard [4].

Some assessments within a standard group may need grading by the teacher. To expand the standard group and view the related assessments, including those that need grading, click the Needs Grading link [5].

If a benchmark assessment's availability window is open, a Benchmark Available label displays [6].

To add an assessment aligned to a standard, click the standard's Add Assessment button [7]. You can add a new assessment or an existing assessment.

Notes:

  • You can choose to hide benchmarks and multi-standard assessments from view. Learn more about customizing the tracker display.
  • You can also view and access assessments by through the standards listed on the Students tab.

Group by Unit

If your tracker contains units, you can view assessments by standards within units. Click the View By drop-down menu, and select the Group by Unit option [1].

Assessments are grouped by standard within units [2].

Expand Group or Standard

To view the assessments within a standard or group, click the Expand button [1]. View the assessment list [2].

To collapse an expanded standard or group, click the Collapse button [3].

To expand all standards and groups at once, click the Expand All button [4].

View Assessment Details

The expanded group displays assessments.

To sort the assessments alphabetically by assessment name, click the Assessment column header [1] until an up arrow displays. To change the sort order to reverse alphabetical order, click the Assessment column header again until a down arrow displays.

To sort the list in ascending order of number of students completed, click the Completed column header until an up arrow displays [2]. To change the sort order to reverse alphabetical order, click the Completed column header again until a down arrow displays.

You can view the name for each assessment [3], as well as the number of students who completed the assessment over the total number of students in the tracker [4].

You can view the assessment type and whether it is a single standard assessment or a multi-standard assessment [5].

Benchmark assessments display a benchmark indicator [6]. You can view the benchmark status [7] and availability window [8].

To view all the standards of a multi-standard assessment, click the Multi-Standard drop-down menu [9].

Manage Assessments Grouped by Standards

When standard groups are expanded, you can manage assessments.

To edit an assessment in draft state, click the Edit button [1].

To open the Assessment Details window, click the assessment name link [2].

To open the Assessment Details window for reports and information, click the Reporting icon [3].

To open the Performance Grader for grading an assessment, click the Grade button [4].

To open the Standard Details page, click the Tracker Students View button [5]. From the Standard Details page, you can view the student list and access options for administering an assessment.

To remove an assessment from a tracker, click the More icon [6]. Click the Delete Assessment option [7]. Then, confirm the deletion.

View in List

To view the Tracker Assessment List by assessment name, click the View By drop-down menu and select the List View option [1].

The table displays assessment names [2], assessment types [3], and the number of students who have completed the assessment [4]. The fraction represents the number of students who have completed over the total number of students [5].

By default, assessments in the draft state display at the top of the list [6].

Benchmark assessments display a status label [7] and a benchmark indicator [8].

Sort Assessment List

By default, the List View table displays assessments in default order. A double-headed arrow displays in the Assessments column header.

To sort the list alphabetically by assessment name, click the Assessment column header [1] until an up arrow displays. To change the sort order to reverse alphabetical order, click the Assessment column header again until a down arrow displays. To change the sort order back to the default, click the column header until the double-headed arrow displays.

To sort the list alphabetically by assessment type, click the Type column header until an up arrow displays [2]. To change the sort order to reverse alphabetical order, click the Type column header again until a down arrow displays.

To sort the list in ascending order of number of students completed, click the Completed column header until an up arrow displays [3]. To change the sort order to reverse alphabetical order, click the Completed column header again until a down arrow displays.

Manage Assessments in List View

When you view assessments in a list, you can manage assessments.

To edit an assessment in the draft state, click the Edit button [1].

To open the Assessment Details window for reports and information, click the Reports icon [2].

To open the Performance Grader for grading an assessment, click the Grade button [3].

To open the Standard Details tracker view to access students and prepare for administering an assessment, click the Tracker Students View button [4].

To remove an assessment from a tracker, click the More icon [5]. Click the Delete Assessment option [6]. Then, confirm the deletion.

Note: If an assessment needs grading, the Needs Grading indicator displays [7].
