Introduction
Learning Services is pleased to announce that the release of a new training course developed by eLumen has been added to the Training Services Portal on August 14, 2023.
eLumen’s Insights for Canvas Outcomes is a powerful suite of tools within the Canvas LMS that enables higher education institutions to turn Canvas into a comprehensive assessment platform. Insights expands the functionality of Canvas Outcomes with integrated curriculum mapping, assessment planning, and support for issuing learner records (CLR) and microcredentials based on learning mastery. With Insights, institutions can manage programmatic outcomes assessment, competency-based education, and more efficient collection of data to meet accreditation requirements. Faculty and coordinators benefit from real-time data displayed on dynamic, interactive dashboards that allow them to track student progress, measure outcomes, and improve teaching and learning – all without ever leaving Canvas. eLumen has partnered with Instructure to create an engaging training course that can be accessed from the Training Services Portal. Institutions with an Essential, Standard, or Premium subscription to the Training Services Portal will have access to this course. Course Description
eLumen’s course trains portal users on the expanded functionalities of Canvas Outcomes. Some features include:
- Enhanced management of LOs (learner outcomes) and rubrics
- Management of versions and variations of outcomes
- Curriculum mapping
- Assessment planning
- Juried assessment for accreditation
- Data analytics and reporting for faculty and coordinators
- Learner record (CLR) and microcredential support
- Insights Editor integrated into Canvas’ Rich Content Editor acts as an AI quality checker
The course includes a series of Modules with written content, images, and videos. Upon completion of this course, a verifiable, digital badge is awarded so learners can showcase a credential as evidence of learning. This course provides in depth information and use cases of this tool for those looking for a deeper application than what may be found in a guide. Insights for Canvas Outcomes is a brand new tool, so most institutions will not have any experience with it yet. The course provides some guidance with Canvas Outcomes for institutions who are not yet using outcomes, and covers how Insights enhances it. By the end of the course, learners will be able to:
- Explain how outcomes are used in Canvas
- Look at the features of Insights and define their role in enhancing Canvas Outcomes
- Explain how Insights amplifies the way learning outcomes are used to support continuous improvement and transparent student mastery
- Defines factors that influence your decision to implement Insights for Canvas Outcomes
