[ARCHIVED] Submitting assignment file on behalf of a student

A student has sent me a file through InBox, which is meant to be an assignment submission.

Is it possible for me to "submit" this assignment on behalf of the student, so that it can be with the rest of the submissions and I can mark it like the rest of the submissions?

I don't believe that submitting on behalf of a student is currently possible in Canvas.  However, there is an existing Feature Idea that seems to align with what you are asking for: https://community.canvaslms.com/ideas/1124-submit-an-assignment-on-behalf-of-a-student" modifiedtitl....  If you feel that this feature is something that matches what you'd like to see in Canvas, I would suggest that you add your vote and consider posting a comment to it letting the Canvas engineers know why this would be important to you.

Submit an assignment on behalf of a student is now in Beta! Please read the Canvas Release Notes (2023-03-18) for more details.

I'm desperate for this option as well. Student will have their phone confiscated as a punishment. But the punishment is mine if I have to keep a separte stack or email list to grade later.

I'm BEGGING you, Canvas. Please make this an option!

This topic is pretty old but I just found it here in the community....I am pretty sure that you can do this if you impersonate the student (act as user). You need to have the ability to do this so if you don't perhaps speak to your admin who should be able tt enable it....otherwise, perhaps they can do it on your behalf (like I do for my staff)
