At Instructure, we are constantly evolving to provide you with the best tools to enhance your educational experience. We are thrilled to announce that our Admin Analytics feature in Canvas are now being migrated to the Data Access Platform (DAP). This transition brings a host of benefits, ensuring a more efficient, consistent, and insightful experience for all users.
Key benefits of the migration
- Increased frequency of data refreshes: From the current daily refresh, we’re increasing to every 4 hours.
- Consistency across metrics in Canvas: by migrating to DAP, we establish a single source of truth when it comes to data, thus ensuring that metrics are standardized across our data products within Canvas. This uniformity makes it easier to compare and analyze data accurately across different products.
- Improved data quality and availability: enhanced data quality ensures you have access to more reliable and accurate insights, allowing for better strategic planning and operational efficiency.
What is NOT changing
Important to note that this migration is only for the underlying Data source being transitioned to Instructure’s Data Access Platform. This is exclusively a backend change, hence nothing in the interface of Admin Analytics will change. Visualizations, business logic, metrics, filters and so on will all remain the same.
Migration Timeline
As the development efforts and internal testing are wrapping up, we’re going to roll out the updates in two phases
- Early access period: Between July 9 and July 31, we will have an early preview/access period. During this time, all customers of Admin Analytics will have the opportunity to enable the new, DAP version on-demand. If you’re looking to take advantage of this early access, reach out to your CSM!
- New backend built on DAP is live for everyone! Starting August 1, Instructure’s going to enable the new version to all our customers.
