Hello Impact Community!

As some of you may have experienced recently, Impact has been experiencing slower load times for Insights. Please know that our R&D team is aware, has investigated, and has created a short-term and long-term plan to enhance performance. We understand how important it is for you to be able to get into Impact and do what you need to do in a timely manner and apologize for any delays that you may have experienced.

The short-term plan is a multi-pronged approach including: leveraging GraphQL APIs vs. REST where applicable, optimizing monitoring of tool data, implementing a new user filtering mechanism, bolstering parallel queries, and enhancing tool adoption logic that should realize some quick gains in performance starting this month (October) with the majority being realized next month (November).

The long-term plan is more involved and will feature a more performant database with a schema aligned to Canvas Data 2 (CD2)/Instructure’s Data Access Platform (DAP), a more performant querying engine, and some additional, related optimizations and is targeted for completion in Q1 2024

We will post an update once the short-term plan is complete, as well as the long-term plan, and look forward to getting feedback on the work done to ensure optimal performance. For those of you who may have already submitted a support ticket, our amazing support team will respond accordingly based on the nature of your issue/request. We ask that you do not submit more than one support ticket per issue, but feel free to respond to/follow up on any currently open tickets any time. If you experience a general slowdown, there is no need to submit a support ticket (since we are aware of the issue). However, if you experience an issue where something is not working at all, please make sure to submit a support ticket! We want to make sure that you have the best experience possible and look forward to seeing increased usage and improved efficiency as a result.
