For many Catalog Admins, creating similar listings meant starting from scratch, manually copying details and settings every single time. It was tedious, error-prone work that could lead to major headaches.

Today, that changes.

We’re thrilled to announce the launch of a long-awaited development: Copy Listing feature in Canvas Catalog.

What’s New?

You’ll now see a Copy Listing button directly within your listing management view. With just a few clicks, you can:

  • Duplicate all listing content, including titles, descriptions, pricing, and enrollment settings.

  • Quickly select a new Canvas course to associate with the copied listing.

  • Automatically validate Canvas section mapping to avoid manual mistakes.

Why It Matters

This feature was purpose-built to tackle real-world challenges our Catalog Admins face:

  • Save time: Eliminate repetitive data entry and focus on growing your Catalog, not recreating it.
  • Increase accuracy: Reduce human error and ensure every listing is ready for enrollment.
  • Scale smarter: Support expanding subcatalogs and course offerings without increasing your workload
  • Maintain consistency: Easily align every listing to your institution’s standards and branding.

Designed with Admins, for Admins

We didn’t just release a feature, we partnered with Canvas Catalog Admins across leading institutions to deeply understand how listing duplication should work, especially when Canvas courses and sections are involved. Their insights helped shape a feature that behaves exactly the way you expect.

And the best part?

You can trust that every duplicated listing preserves your key configurations, including pricing, enrollment rules, Canvas course connections, and section mappings, keeping everything structurally intact and enrollment-ready from the start.

What's Next?

This is just the beginning. The Copy Listing feature you see today marks Version 1 of our listing duplication efforts. In future updates, we plan to expand Copy Listing functionality beyond new listing creation, enabling even more flexible copying options across your Catalog workflows. Stay tuned as we continue making Catalog faster, easier, and even more scalable for administrators like you.

Your feedback drives Canvas Catalog forward, thank you for helping us build the future of learning administration.

Hi @matekiss, I cant even tell you how long we have been waiting for this feature. Thank you so much for working on it.  Will there ever be a way to support multiple sessions under a single listing? I know this may be a huge task but I know it is an ongoing request from multiple institutions.

Hi @jsowalsk,

I'm so glad to hear this! It’s been a long time coming, and we’re thrilled to finally get it out there for you. Thanks so much for the support.

You are correct; supporting multiple sessions under a single listing is a big need, and it’s something we hear from a lot of institutions. It’s a complex one (because of how Catalog ties into Canvas), but it’s definitely on our radar.

Good news: we’re planning to open up some conversations with our product team around this topic in Q2. You’ll have a chance to share your thoughts and help us shape what comes next. I’ll make sure you get the invite when the time comes.

Thanks again for taking the time to comment. It really does help us make Catalog better!
