Navigating Accessibility: Canvas Credentials' Progress and Challenges
Canvas Credentials is currently undergoing some accessibility improvements. We've noticed irregular heading structures, navigation difficulties, and unclear focus indicators. These issues might cause inconvenience, especially for users relying on assistive technologies.
How This Affects You
If you rely on screen readers or navigate primarily with a keyboard, you might encounter a few bumps along the way. These challenges could make your journey through Canvas Credentials a bit less straightforward than we desire. We're focused on addressing these concerns promptly.
Our Master Plan
We're hard at work addressing these challenges. Our goal is to ensure most aspects are accessible well before the end of 2024. While some areas might receive the green light sooner, our ultimate objective is to provide a seamlessly accessible Canvas Credentials experience for all our users. We're aligning our efforts with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 AA to ensure a smoother navigation experience.
Where Are We Heading?
Our aim is to achieve full WCAG 2.1 AA compliance by the end of 2024. Once we reach this milestone, we'll introduce a brand-new Voluntary Product Accessibility Template (VPAT) as a commitment to ensuring Canvas Credentials is a go-to, accessible space.
We appreciate your patience and support as we continue improving Canvas Credentials to be a more inclusive and welcoming platform for everyone.
