We've made important updates to our DAP CLI documentation, including new resource links, detailed explanations on queries, and guidance on datasets and namespaces. Coming soon, the DAP CLI will support secure connections to MySQL and PostgreSQL, better error handling for parquet files, and optimized memory usage.

Join us at the Canvas Data 2 Online Meetup for an introduction to CD2, an overview of DAP, a preview of upcoming features, and a Q&A session. We’re also inviting community presentations. Stay tuned for more details.

  • Additional Resources: Links have been added to the top of the page.

Stay tuned as we are also working on bigger changes in the documentation to help you use our APIs and tools easier:

  • Moving all of the documentation to Community pages
  • Adding Quick start and Beginners guides for API and CLI documentations

2. New DAP CLI Features Coming Soon This Quarter

We are excited to announce some upcoming features for the DAP CLI:

  • Secure Connection Capability: Support for secure connections to MySQL and PostgreSQL.
  • Error Handling for Parquet Files: The library will now throw an exception if an attempt is made to decompress parquet files after downloading.
  • Optimised Memory Footprint: Reduced memory usage for CLI processes to better optimise container RAM requirements for cloud based use cases.

3. Canvas Data 2 Online Meetup!

We are going to host an online meetup to discuss the latest updates and features of Canvas Data 2. It is going to be available through Instructure Live.

The format would be two 10-minute talks and questions at the end of each.

Talks:

  1. Gergely Schmidt: Introduction, CD2 and DAP overview, upcoming features, and a Q&A session.
  2. Call for Presentations: We invite Community members to join me in presenting in a Canvas Data 2 related topic. Please send your topic as a comment so everyone could see.

Stay tuned for more details and feel free to reach out with any questions or suggestions. We look forward to seeing you at the meetup!
