For learning at every level, the start of a new semester or school year is critical, and well-prepared courses from day one are essential to ensure a smooth learning experience. To further enhance this crucial readiness, we're excited to announce three new criteria additions for Course Readiness: Due dates, Gradebook, and Home page criteria. These updates are designed to help instructors and administrators easily verify that courses are fully prepared for students on day one, just in time for a new semester for North America and Europe.

What's New

  1. Due dates criteria

When importing content from prior courses, it’s easy to forget to update the due dates of assignments or other course items. To help ensure none of them are published with incorrect due dates, a new criteria has been introduced to Course Readiness that verifies if published due dates fall within the course start and end date.

This criteria checks if due dates are set for published items, and that they are not due before the course start date or after the course end date.

  1. Gradebook criteria

The Gradebook is a core component for communicating student progress. To help confirm that it is actively being used in a course, a new criteria has been introduced to Course Readiness that verifies if the Canvas Gradebook is in use for the course.

This criteria checks if at least one student has a current course score published in the Canvas Gradebook.

  1. Home page criteria

A well-defined course home page is the first step to creating a clear and organized learning environment. To help ensure a consistent experience across courses, a new criteria has been introduced to Course Readiness that verifies if the home page is set correctly.

This criteria checks if the course home page is set to a valid option, ensuring students land on the correct page when they first enter the course.

We hope that these new criteria will be valuable additions to your course readiness checklist as your learners return to school or campus.
