Convert Canvas Quizzes to Mastery Assessments with AI-Suggested Standards Alignments

Manually aligning standards during Quiz conversion can be tedious, especially when you’re juggling dozens of assessments across multiple courses. With AI-suggested standards alignments, that process just got easier.

What it does

When you convert a Canvas Quiz to a Mastery assessment, Ignite AI will do the heavy lifting for you by automatically suggesting standards alignments for each item. You’ll see the suggestions while the assessment is still in draft mode, so you can review, accept, or adjust as needed keeping you in control with less manual work. 

How it works

Thanks to the seamless integration between Canvas and Mastery Connect, getting started is simple. Once your Canvas course is linked to a Mastery Tracker, you’ll automatically see the option to convert a Canvas Quiz directly within the tracker. Then, using the AI Alignment tool is fast and simple:

1. Navigate to Mastery Tracker and click the “Import Canvas Quiz” button in the top right corner 
2. Click "See Available Quizzes" to view valid New Quizzes or Classic Quizzes.
3. Select the quizzes you want to convert and click "Convert as New." 
4. Once conversion is complete, you'll find the converted assessments in your new tracker assessment list as draft assessments.
5. Open the draft assessment to review the AI-suggested alignments
6. See each suggested alignment and accept it, or select a new alignment if a different standard is more relevant for your instructional goals.

To make the most of this feature:

• Ensure your Canvas course is linked to a Mastery Tracker.
• AI will suggest alignments based only on standards in your tracker's standard set.

Create Standards-Aligned Assessment Items with AI-Powered Question Generation in Quick Reassess

It is essential to reassess students’ mastery of standards to measure their progress and the effectiveness of interventions after additional instruction. But, creating new items for assessments can be time consuming and it can be difficult to ensure that content is accurately aligned to the same standards and rigor as the original assessment.

That’s where AI-generated items for Quick Reassess come in. This new feature enhances the popular Quick Reassess workflow by using IgniteAI to instantly generate fresh, standards-aligned items — built from the high-quality, vetted content in the Mastery Item Bank. The result: you save time without sacrificing assessment quality.

What it does

When building a follow-up assessment using Quick Reassess, you can click the IgniteAI icon to generate a new item aligned to the same standard and rigor as the original assessment. You can preview the item, see which Mastery Item Bank item that it was built from, and choose to select it or regenerate again until you have find the item that you’re looking for.

How it works

1. Open quick reassess and begin building your assessment 
2. Click the IgniteAI “Generate New Item” button 
3. Review the AI-generated item. 
4. Add the item to your assessment or replace or regenerate to get a new suggestions
5. Click done to enter draft mode for your assessment where you can make additional adjustments as needed 

Note that AI-generated items remain drafts until selected and are fully editable before publishing, so you’re always in control of the content you’re using with your students.
