The Instructure Community will enter a read-only state on November 22, 2025 as we prepare to migrate to our new Community platform in early December. Read our blog post for more info about this change.
At Instructure, we believe that great assessments start with great research. Educators rely on our tools to guide instruction, identify student needs, and measure progress towards proficiency. That is why we hold ourselves to the highest standards of validity and reliability. When educators can trust the data, they can focus on what matters most: supporting every student’s learning journey.
We know that decisions made with assessment data have real impacts in classrooms. That is why our teams continuously test, refine, and validate our assessments to ensure they provide clear, accurate, and actionable insights. From thoughtful test design to field testing items to ongoing psychometric analyses, we take a research-based approach that helps educators feel confident using our assessments to drive instruction.
As part of this ongoing commitment, the LearnPlatform Research team conducts annual validity studies across multiple states. The most recent study included data from more than 31,000 students across 5 states and 11 counties. The results show that the Mastery Predictive Assessments consistently and accurately forecast students’ end-of-year outcomes in math, reading, and science, even as standards vary from state to state.
For educators, this means the data they see is grounded in evidence, not assumptions. It means they can trust that the assessments align with state expectations, reflect real student performance, and highlight where additional support might be needed.
By replicating this research every year, we make sure our Predictive Assessments stay accurate, relevant, and ready to help districts measure progress and prepare every student for success.
