The Intelligent Insights team recently had the pleasure of hosting a  Customer Discovery Session in Spokane, bringing together educators and administrators from diverse institutions across North America and Europe to discuss Intelligent Insights. This direct engagement is invaluable, allowing us to shape the product based on real-world needs and challenges collaboratively.

Our session focused on three key areas: validating near-term features, identifying new use cases and potential users/groups we can help, and brainstorming long-term opportunities. These rich discussions reinforced our commitment to developing flexible, automated, and impactful analytics solutions.

Key Themes Driving Our Innovation:

  • Seamless Data Integration: A top priority is overcoming challenges with fragmented data sources and ensuring comprehensive, accurate, and timely student data is accessible to all relevant stakeholders.  New data sources would enable new analytics such as program outcomes.
  • Streamlined Workflows & Actionable Insights: Customers emphasized the need for features that boost efficiency, enable proactive intervention, and reduce manual effort. This includes capabilities for mass updates and clear academic summaries.
  • Enhanced Student Group Management & Role-Based Access: There's a strong demand for flexible student group creation based on specific institutional needs (e.g., cohorts, programs, risk categories). Crucially, these groups require role-specific, actionable insights with granular permissions for various support staff.
  • Actionable Compliance & Accessibility Monitoring: We explored early prototypes for RSI Insights, Title IV Reporting, and Accessibility Insights. While highly valued, participants stressed the importance of customization, automation (like "smart fixes"), and clear, actionable recommendations.
  • Intuitive UX & Customization: Users desire intuitive dashboards that are customizable to their specific rules and policies, providing clear next steps and reducing interpretation. Role-based access and visual cues are essential for usability and security.

What's Next:

The insights gathered in Spokane are directly informing our product roadmap. We are prioritizing enhanced flexibility, greater automation, and improved insight distribution in the near term. Looking ahead, we're building the foundation for AI-driven, multi-role, and deeply integrated experiences, exploring how to incorporate additional data sources and leverage AI for deeper analysis and instructor support.

A sincere thank you to all the participants for your partnership. Your valuable feedback is critical in shaping the next generation of Intelligent Insights, ensuring it continues to meet the evolving needs of modern education.  If you’d like to participate in a customer discovery workshop or simply communicate your experiences and needs, please comment here or share your thoughts in our community.
