As earlier we shared our announcement about the upcoming rebrand of Canvas Credentials to Parchment Award Digital Badges. That blogpost outlined the vision for unifying credentialing under the Parchment Award family and the production go-live date of October 31, 2025.

Today, we’re excited to share the very first visible step in that rebrand journey: updates to the Beta environments. This is your chance to preview exactly what the production experience will look like once the rebrand is live.

Timeline for the Beta Update

  • As detailed in the latest release note, week of September 29, 2025: Beta environments were temporarily unavailable due to scheduled maintenance in preparation for the rebrand.

  • October 6, 2025: Beta environments reopen with the updated Parchment Award Digital Badges branding and new URLs.

When you log into Beta after September 29, you’ll see the rebranded look and feel,  exactly what you’ll experience in production beginning October 31.

What’s Changing in Beta

New URLs – the old Beta addresses will no longer work. Please update your bookmarks to the new format:

 

Refreshed branding and naming across the interface

The same functionality you rely on today, under the new Parchment Award Digital Badges identity

👉 Important note: this change applies only to Beta. In production, when the rebrand goes live on October 31, we will provide automatic redirection from the old URLs to the new ones. You will not lose access to your live environment.

Why This Matters

  • Get the first look. Beta is where you’ll first see the new branding and naming conventions in action.

  • Prepare your teams. Update documentation, training, and workflows before production changes arrive.

  • Validate integrations. Ensure your systems are aligned with the new Beta domains and ready for October 31.

Don’t Have a Beta Yet?

If your institution doesn’t currently have a Beta environment but would like one, now is the perfect time to get started. Beta is available exclusively for Canvas Credentials customers and offers:

  • Weekly syncs with production data (users, issuers, badge classes, pathways)

  • A safe environment to test features and workflows

  • Early visibility into upcoming changes like the rebrand

To request access, simply reach out to support. Your Beta environment will be created and populated after the next scheduled sync following approval.

What’s Next

The Beta update on October 6 marks the first step in the rebrand. From that point forward, you’ll know exactly what to expect when production officially becomes Parchment Award Digital Badges on October 31, 2025.
