This blog post is part of the Mastery Connect Feature Spotlight series, where we highlight enhancements and updates designed to make your experience simpler and more powerful.

In any school district, change is a constant. Staffing adjustments and shifts in teaching assignments can happen at any time during the year. When a new teacher takes over a class, it’s crucial that their digital tools and records reflect that change accurately.

Previously, district administrators have managed this by transition by adding the new teacher as a collaborator. While this provides access, it falls short of truly reflecting the change which can lead to issues with clean reporting and an accurate representation of who owns the tracker.

That’s why we’re excited to introduce a new, simplified workflow to solve this exact problem: Transferring Tracker Ownership. This feature provides a streamlined way for district administrators to manually adjust tracker ownership as needed, ensuring your data is always accurate and aligned with your school's reality.

With this new feature, district administrators can now easily change the primary owner of any Mastery Tracker. This ensures that reporting accurately reflects the new teacher as the tracker's owner. This is particularly valuable for districts that have regular shifts in faculty and staffing.

How to Transfer Tracker Ownership

The process is simple and intuitive. Here’s how an administrator can make the change:

  1. From the Mastery Tracker, navigate to the More menu (represented by three dots) and select People.
  2. In the People menu, click Owner & Collaborators.
  3. A window will appear listing the current owner and any collaborators.
    • If the new teacher isn't listed, you can search to add them as a collaborator first.
  4. Next to the collaborator you wish to make the new owner, simply click the Transfer Ownership button.
  5. Click Save Changes.

It’s that easy. The collaborator is now the primary owner of the tracker. For continuity, the original teacher will remain on the tracker as a collaborator until they are explicitly removed, ensuring a smooth transition.

With this update, administrators now have a simple and powerful tool to manage the natural shifts that occur during the school year. By ensuring that tracker ownership is always correct, you can maintain data integrity, empower your teachers with the right information, and continue to support every student's learning journey without interruption.
