At Instructure, we understand that student success starts with engagement. That is why we are introducing the new integration between Canvas Catalog and Impact. This update gives institutions the ability to track real-time student activity and send helpful messages at key moments throughout the learning journey.
The challenge for institutions
Schools using Catalog often struggle to see how students interact with their course listings. They miss opportunities to guide students, improve enrollment, and support course completion. Creating even basic messages in Catalog typically requires custom JavaScript, which can slow things down and limit access for non-technical staff.
What this integration offers
With the Catalog x Impact integration, you can now:
- Track student behavior across Catalog, including page views, enrollments, and drop-offs
- Set up smart, in-app messages in Catalog based on specific student actions
- Support students with walkthroughs
- Use easy tools that do not require coding or technical help
Why this matters for your institution
This integration turns insights into action. Catalog admins can now create messaging that helps students move forward, without needing help from developers. Institutional leaders get access to clear data about course engagement and adoption trends, which helps inform future decisions.
Better outcomes, fewer barriers
Catalog admins gain the freedom to design the student experience with simple tools that fit their daily workflow. They can welcome new learners, offer tips, and increase the chance of course completion, all without touching a single line of code.
Institutional leaders benefit from more visibility into the student journey. With this information, they can fine-tune course offerings, reduce abandonment, and increase program success.
A stronger value story for customers
For schools already using Impact or Catalog, this integration makes it easier to justify using both. It also creates a stronger case for adoption during large-scale discussions with states or systems that need seamless tools for engagement and analytics.
Now available
This integration is available as of the July 21, 2025 release. You can read the full details in the release notes.
