Hi everyone,

We’ve been hard at work improving the Performance and Usability Updates for SpeedGrader experience and wanted to share an update on key issues we’ve addressed, what’s currently being worked on, and what’s next in line.

If you’ve encountered an issue and don’t see it listed here, please double-check whether it’s already been fixed or marked as done,  and if not, feel free to share it with us in the community so we can take a closer look.

Fixed! (Done)

The following issues have been resolved and are either already released or will be released within the next month:

  1. SpeedGrader sometimes fails to load for certain courses or groups.

  2. The “Resubmit to Turnitin” button missing in some submissions.

  3. Modernized SpeedGrader missing the masquerade bar.

  4. TII similarity score icons showing inconsistent colors or contrast.

  5. Section filter not always applying correctly.

  6. Comment library showing fewer comments than available.

  7. Visibility icon and menu text incorrect in the new SpeedGrader.

  8. Missing RCE options for some assignment comments.

  9. Due dates not appearing below the “Days Late” label.

  10. Student navigation hotkeys not behaving intuitively.

  11. Teachers unable to see student names in soft-concluded courses.

  12. Similarity report failing to open in Modernized SpeedGrader.

  13. Section filter showing inactive or incorrectly enrolled students.

  14. Group comments only sent to the group representative.

  15. Text entry submissions and comments loading in small preview boxes.

In Progress

These issues are actively being worked on right now:

  1. Students not sorting alphabetically when ordered by submission status.

  2. Some screen capture media comments not posting correctly.

  3. Support for posting comment-only (no grade given) assessments.

  4. Adding submission status can sometimes hide grades.

Open (To Be Worked On)

These items are on our radar and will be addressed in upcoming updates:

  1. Full-screen document view not functioning in Modernized SpeedGrader.

  2. Similarity score missing for anonymous grading assignments.

  3. Embedded documents and media comments displaying incorrectly.

  4. Manual grading and posting grades requiring page reloads.

  5. External links in submissions blocked when opened in a new tab.

  6. Certain translations or spacing in the RCE making comments harder to read.

  7. Performance upgrades causing grades or submission statuses to appear hidden.

  8. Studio Capture media occasionally failing to save in specific browsers.

We’re Listening

We know how essential SpeedGrader is to your daily workflow, and we deeply appreciate the feedback you continue to share. Every report helps us make grading smoother, faster, and more reliable for everyone.

If you’re still seeing an issue that’s not listed here, please:

  1. Check to see if it’s already been marked as fixed or released.

  2. If not, let us know in the comments so we can investigate further.

Thanks for your patience and for being part of the SpeedGrader community!

You folks are great! Thanks for this update.

The bug that bothers me: when "Performance and Usability Upgrades for SpeedGrader" is enabled in course settings, I can no longer access the first attempt in quizzes via SpeedGrader.

Course A: This student has taken a quiz twice. I can't see the first submission from SpeedGrader. For this course, SpeedGrader upgrades were enabled.

Course B: This student has taken a quiz twice. Whew! There's the dropdown. I did NOT enable "Performance and Usability Upgrades for SpeedGrader" in settings for this course.

@MsTia Thanks for sharing. Do you mind sharing (you can send a DM) the URL for Course A so I can check it out?

It'd be good to also include this bug breaking some partner integrations:

Custom parameters in a deep linking response from the Homework Submissions placement are not being sent in the new SpeedGrader launch.

We have professors that assign Google Earth as a writing assignment. We have noticed that when students submit their sharable link for the url submission, with the enhancements enabled it provides an error due to the cross origin iframe sandboxing for the viewer in speedgreader, however with the enhancements disabled the instructor can interact with the submission in speedgrader as they have been able to. This has affected many professors, I don't know if it is one of those easy wins changing how the iframe presentation is provided with the speedgrader enhancements.
