A Faster, More Reliable Grading Experience Awaits

As one of our valued early adopters, you’ll have exclusive access to a faster, more stable, and improved SpeedGrader, designed to enhance your grading workflow while maintaining the familiar interface you rely on.
Why We’re Modernizing SpeedGrader
SpeedGrader has long been an essential tool for instructors, simplifying the grading process and enabling timely feedback for students. However, as course sizes grow and grading demands increase, the current version has shown performance limitations—including slow load times, system instability, and a UI that could be more intuitive.
The modernized SpeedGrader is built to address these challenges by:
- Enhancing performance to reduce load times and improve responsiveness, even for large courses.
- Improving system reliability to ensure grading remains smooth, even during peak periods.
- Streamlining integrations with other Canvas tools for a more seamless experience.
- Maintaining the familiar SpeedGrader interface while refining usability and accessibility.
What to Expect as an Early Adopter
By participating in this program, you will have the opportunity to test, provide feedback, and help shape the future of SpeedGrader before its full release. Your insights will be invaluable in ensuring that we deliver a smooth transition for all Canvas users.
March 15th: Site Admins will be able to see the Modernized SpeedGrader Platform Feature Flag available to be turned on in their account. Admins can turn on the feature at account, sub-account or course level and Instructors can also enable it at the course level.
March 15th onwards: Once the admins have enabled the feature, instructors will be able to experience the modernized SpeedGrader when grading a submission.
There will be a Submit Feedback button at the bottom right of the SpeedGrader. Clicking the Submit Feedback button will open a link to a Google Feedback Form. Provide your feedback using the form. Alternatively, you can also provide your feedback, observations or suggestions in the Modernized SpeedGrader Feature User Group using the Feedback Button shown below.
Our product and engineering teams will be reviewing all the feedback submitted through the feedback button as well as the User Group. Our team is here to support you every step of the way, ensuring you have a seamless experience.
