I have a few concerns with the new peer review process. First on the assignment peer review, when students view the individual assignment page there is no indication that there is a peer review to complete. If an instructor hides the assignment page and doesn't use modules, how will student know to complete a peer review? Second issue is when the student is completing the peer review, the rubric displays at the top and submitted paper at the bottom. This will require the student to scroll up and down a lot. I would prefer the student be able see the rubric side by side the submitted paper (like in SpeedGrader).

In student view students need to click Find Appointment and select the course. Once they do that the appointments will display on the calendar. The Find appointment is in the your second screen shot.

I've had quite few calls this morning with this same issue. Try a different browser or update the current browser. Canvas only supports latest two versions of all browsers. What are the browser and computer requirements for Instructure products?

Welcome @JDPearson! It is wonderful to hear work is continuing on discussions. I had given some feedback earlier about the discussion redesign at the link below. My biggest concern is about replies and threads with popout window. It breaks the flow and every instructor I have shown this does not like it. Please keep us informed of any changes. @Hildi_Pardo I haven't turned on assignment enhancements for the entire institution yet. I just checked in my test course and Peer review and most external tool still display the old view. Studio video quiz did display the new view but all the other external tools show the old view. I would wait until all assignment types display the same view.

@SuSorensen Will this also fix the issue with manually graded quizzes where the gradebook doesn't update? I have ticket (08770053) about this issue. This is pretty serious bug. I really hope it gets fixed quickly.

In the assignment enhancements document overview it states that external tools are supported but when I create an assignment with external tool, I see classic student view. I thought it may because the external tool assignments had been created earlier but when I created a new one I still saw the classic student view. Why does the documentation say its supported when it is not? I'm liking the changes I have seen for student view so far. However, in instructor view I feel there are few of these new features that need tweaking. Limiting Multiple attempts - This feature really needs moderation just like as with quizzes. This will be especially true for instructors who limit to one attempt. There will always be edge cases that will need additional attempts. Reassign in SpeedGrader - This is a useful feature however, I fear it will cause instructor/student confusion when an available until date is set. There is no way in SpeedGrader to see if an until date is set and there is also no way to change it in Speedgrader as well. So if an instructor reassigns an assignment with past until date and hasn't or doesn't differentiated the assignment for the student there will student/instructor confusion. At least warn an instructor that they will need to adjust dates for the student.

Second Update I did another migration and this is what seems to be the long standing issues. If the classic quiz has a question group where the questions are directly in the group, this does properly convert to an item bank but it is NOT attached to the person who migrated it. It does show up in the admin list of item banks with no one attached to it. This is going to be a huge problem for us. Most people put questions directly in question groups because of the grading issue with linked banks. Also, I think people should be warned that questions in a classic quiz that are not associated with a group will NOT migrate as an item bank. I have some confusion about question banks migrating. Will these migrate if they are not associated with question group in a quiz? The migrated quiz did not have points in the "assignment settings". This will definitely confuse people since questions will have points. Maybe this should be noted in warning message that appears after migration?? The admin list of item banks is hot mess. Please do not show me all item banks by default. I only want to see my item banks by default. Give me a more filters to search item banks. Additionally, I would like to see the item bank owner's name in the list. I don't like having to click the share button to see the item bank owner's name. A search filter option by person would be awesome.

I had chance to take a deeper look at the discussion redesign and I have some questions and feedback. Reporting - The report button appears in teacher view. If a teacher reports a post, does it go to the admin? If so, where in the admin can I see it? If this doesn't go to the admin, this option in teacher view may be confusing to instructors. Additionally, when the report option is selected in the options menu there is poor contrast between text and background color. See attachment below. Sidebar hell - I noticed that many instructors who have tried using discussion redesign and have posted feedback here are not happy with sidebar view of replies. I believe that our instructors would feel the same way. There has be a better way to display replies than popping them out on sidebar. This really breaks the flow and can be confusing in a discussion topic that has many replies. Also, please NOT get rid of the open/collapse thread option. This is extremely useful for teachers and students. Our instructors have been asking for a subject link option for a very long time. It would make more sense to have an option and close a thread with the subject line text as the open and close link. Another option they have asked for is the nested discussion topics as well. Subject Lines for Discussions Teacher-created Discussion threads or sub-topics Description Display - I really don't like that the grading information is displayed in small text that can be easily missed by students. Please make this information more prominent above the description. Also the Publish and edit options are much smaller and will also be easily missed by instructors. Reply language - I have stated this before but I have never liked that the word "reply" is used for both first post (or new thread) and replies to a thread. This has always been confusing to instructors and students. I do like that the first post reply displays as button. This does help to make the distinction between creating a new post/thread as opposed to replying to a thread. Please use a different word for first post/new thread. Quote language and function - I don't like that quote language is used by default when responding to a a message in a thread. This will be confusing for all users. Also, there will be times where the user doesn't want to quote the entire post. Allow users to select only the portion they wish to quote. It seems like separate quote option that is placed by reply option would be better. Anonymous Discussions - In instructor view it is noted above an anonymous discussion description that the instructor's profile will be visible in student view. However, if an instructor creates a reply, the profile will display anonymous in instructor view. I fear this will confuse instructors and they won't read the alert above the discussion description. Student Created Discussion topics/Discussion index options - When we first adopted Canvas, this caused mass confusion for many instructors. At the time instructors could not turn this option off because the options hadn't been added yet. This is still an issue for those instructors who do wish to allow students to create discussion topics. This will especially be true with the new anonymous option. If the option to allow students to create discussion topics is on, students often get confused where they should post their reply. This can be really hard for an instructor who is requiring student to post in a graded discussion. Students will often come to the discussion page and click +discussion option at the top of the page to create a reply for the graded discussion. The student is confused and the instructor will be as well because the reply will not be in the graded discussion topic. This leads back to the confusing reply language used. Personal Discussion Options Issues - The personal setting, Manually mark replies as read, is not available in user account profile settings. I would prefer that it is available to user there as well as the discussion index page. That way if instructors choose to not display the discussion page to students, they would still be able to choose to change the personal setting. Allow student to edit and delete replies option - I have never liked that instructors can't split these options up. These options should be split apart and set at the individual topic level rather than for all discussions or at least instructors could make a change to this setting for an individual discussion topic.

In order to use the anonymous discussion feature instructors must turn on the option to allow students to create discussion topics. We have actively discouraged instructors from allow this option to be checked because if there are graded discussions in the course, the option to create a new discussion topic confuses students. They end up creating a new discussion "topic" rather than a "reply" in the graded discussion topic. This creates havoc for instructors when they try to grade the discussion. I'm not really sure how other institutions use discussions but this would an issue for our faculty who may wish to use anonymous discussions and also have graded discussions.

I'm feeling a bit mixed on this one. As @Stef_retired mentions you can use the differentiated assignments options to make adjustments for single student but it is much more convenient to have option on the moderate page like we did with classic quizzes. I know my faculty will miss having this option on the moderate page but is also confusing to have this option in both places. I would love to see the option on the moderate page if it is clearly marked what it will do.

@SuSorensen I created a ticket, 08416284 with a video describing the issues. Yes it appears none of the question banks that are in the course migrate. The question groups do migrate but the question groups with questions directly in the group do not attach to the instructor that migrated the content. I can see them in the admin list of question groups.

Update It looks like some things are fixed but still having issues with others. On #1 the linked question bank in the question group can over perfectly. That is what I am expecting. For #2 the question group with questions directly in it came over and created an item bank and I can see the questions in preview but there is no item bank in my item bank list. For #3 this is still a problem. Where did the item bank go??? It must be somewhere since I can see the questions in preview. See screen cap below. Also none of the question banks that were in the course and not linked to a question group didn't come over to item banks. On the side note when this does work, how will the migration distinguish all the "unfiled questions" banks? Will the second and third come over with a number attached or by course name? For #4 I going to assume this is beta issue since it it seems fine in production. It would be nice to know the beta quirks ahead of time so we know it really isn't an issue. For #5 I am still hoping updating the rce will fix this issue. I don't think our faculty use this much or at least I'm hoping they don't. For #6 I assuming this is also a beta issue since it is fine in production. In beta editing questions in new quizzes

I tested this in beta today. There are multiple issues. Note: I turned on New Quizzes migration during course import/copy so my experience is based on this feature preview enabled in the admin. I had a test course with several quizzes and some question banks. I was in the process of moving questions from the unfiled bank to more usefully named question banks when I began this import process. I also created two additional quizzes. One with a linked bank question group and another with question group with questions. I also already had some quizzes that were created in New Quizzes in the course. In the documentation it states that all questions banks will be ported. In my process I decided to import into a blank course with the new quizzes option checked. Below are the issues I found. Linked bank in question group created a quiz with no questions. There are no warning errors like before. Basically instructors will need to add the questions to the quiz which is labor intensive and not helpful because of issue 3 below. The quiz with the question group with questions directly in it did create a group set in the quiz to an item bank that I cannot find in my item bank list. This is the same issue I encountered with current migration methods. Nobody has answered my question on "Where does this item bank exist??". I can see the questions in student view. When I look at the item banks list I don't see any of the new item banks that should be there from the course I just imported. Where did they go?? The questions in the quiz can be edited like they are not in a item bank. This is very problematic if this migration path is suppose to maintain question/item bank structure. This will be labor intensive for faculty who want to randomize a large pool of questions since they will have to add questions in the quiz to an item bank by editing questions one by one. A select all in quizzes and item banks would be nice. As admin I noticed I'm not seeing all item banks that I should be able to see since the June 2021 update. I didn't see any documentation on this change. Can you please direct me to documentation on this change? I only see this in beta. Production is still all item banks. Please create a filter I can enable to see all. I would prefer to not see all item banks by default. As stated the stimulus question did come over without the media. I also had a question with Studio media that didn't come over at all. Please tell me this gets fixed when the editor is replaced with the new rce. I think this is just a beta issue but the existing new quizzes did not import. I just get the spinning wheel of death. I tested in production and existing new quizzes imported just fine. I know it is early days with this migration path so I hope these issues can be resolved before it comes to production.

My top three are Integration with Commons - Our faculty use Commons a lot and the lack of support for Commons is going to make this switch difficult. Full Import/Export options - Fully integration with Respondus (exam creation tool with Canvas publishing options) and publisher resources to new quizzes. Along with this the ability export quizzes from new quizzes. RCE Editor - I agree with other about this. It has to be the same in new quizzes.

I see what you are requesting now. As I understand how new quizzes works, I don't think you can randomly assign a stimulus question to students from within new quizzes.

If an instructor hides the discussion index page which many do in a module based course, students cannot view this setting and therefore cannot use it. If this setting was in the user account settings, then students would be able to set the setting if desired.

I agree with much of what every else has posted previously. Here are our pain points. The ability to set a page as the home page. This provides a better landing page for each group. There is a groups feature at the admin level but it is pretty useless so it would be nice to have self-sign up at the admin level or allow a group admin to add people. Navigation is problem. Everyone gets confused. If the groups allow self-sign up and the assignment is a discussion, if students never signs up for a group, they can still post and the post is in neverland. It doesn't display in the group or speedgrader. When assignment or discussion is a group project, it would be nice to have an icon display next to the assignment name in the all the places it may display (assignment, discussion, and module pages). Something similar to what you see with peer review assignments. Some faculty want to make the group work for each group different so it would be nice if they could create separate instructions for each group.

@Katrina-Hess I can't speak for the people you mentioned in your post but I think the dislike to the proposed change in discussion threads is about breaking that flow. I think most people just want an option to open and close threads directly on the page rather than breaking that flow with flyout sidebar. In the current discussions I often use the collapse/expand options a lot because when the threads are closed I can quickly tell how many replies I haven't read. I also like the option to open/close a thread individually. My biggest issue with the proposed flyout menu for threads is that the rich content editor gets cut off when expanded. My other issues with the changes made so far include the following: Inconsistency with the display graded details - I not crazy about the current display of this information and I really don't like in the proposed redesign either. I would prefer that graded discussions had a similar view at the top of the page that assignments have. For example current and enhanced views give all the graded information at the top of the page in a consistent pattern. In the assignment enhanced view, students collapse/expand the details. That would be nice to have in discussions as well. My reason for not liking redesigned view is that the text is small and has low contrast. Students are sure to miss it. Rubric hidden - I've always hated that the rubric was hidden in a menu. I would like have the rubric more discoverable like it is for assignments. Reply used for first post - I have never liked using the word reply for the first post a student creates. I think there should be clear distinction in language between first post and replies to other peoples' posts. Edit/Delete grouped as one - This all or nothing approach is not helpful. Some instructors would like to give students editing abilities but not delete posts or vice versa. It would also great if option could be overruled in a single discussion as well. Better tools for marking messages as read - In the redesign I don't see where I can mark all posts as read or configure my preferences.
